


The Full Story
Bright Eye Veterinary Care is a dedicated referral ophthalmology service founded by Dr. Susan Neill BVSc PGCertSAOphthal MRCVS. Susan’s passion for veterinary medicine began at a young age when she took on part-time roles as a kennel assistant and later as a veterinary receptionist at her local practice, The Willow Veterinary Group in Portadown, where she now conducts consultations and surgeries as Bright Eye Veterinary Care. She went on to study at the University of Liverpool, graduating in 2019 with a Distinction in Veterinary Science. After graduation, Susan gained three years of experience in mixed animal practice across Northern Ireland before returning to a full-time small animal role at The Willow Veterinary Clinic in 2023. While at university, Susan developed a particular interest in ophthalmology. She completed an externship with a specialist referral ophthalmology group in Penrith, where she gained valuable experience managing complex eye cases and learning about innovative treatment techniques. Following two years of dedicated study, Susan was awarded her Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Ophthalmology in 2024 After returning from maternity leave in July 2025, Susan founded Bright Eye Veterinary Care to provide a high-quality, compassionate referral service for animals requiring specialist ophthalmic care Susan lives on the outskirts of Portadown with her husband and young son. Her beloved Labrador, Heidi, and cat, Patricia, were her “first children.” Outside of her professional work, Susan enjoys helping on her family’s farm, keeping active, and continually seeking opportunities to expand her veterinary knowledge and skills.
